Due to the COVID-19  Pandemic,  only a few people were actively involved following the government directives and global guidelines on social distancing. The rest of the EGI Members each did something in line with environment conservation wherever they were and shared on their digital platforms to mark the EGI-WED2020.

The World Environment Day which is also referred to as Eco Day, is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for raising environmental issues awareness, supporting action and advocating for changes towards conservation of the environment.

WED is the anniversary of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm in 1972 and is annually celebrated worldwide on the 5th of June since 1973. WED is hosted by a different country every year, with a new theme, which is basically a slogan usually picked through a voting process on social media.

2020’s WED was hosted in Colombia in partnership with Germany.

WED2020 theme was TIME FOR NATURE and touched on Biodiversity, advocating for everyone to act #ForNature

Let’s ALL do something for the environment! Plant a tree! Make a tree nursery! Make a vegetable nursery! Clean up a street! Clean up a compound! Make a kitchen garden!

Act #ForNature!!!
