Bio-gas program for schools

Eco Green Initiative proposes a project to replace the utilization of firewood and charcoal in schools as energy for cooking with Bio gas that is derived from school generated human waste.

The use of Bio gas will:
• Reduce school expenditure on fuel and emptying latrines
• Preserve a significant number of trees
• Reduce carbon dioxide emissions from burning wood
• Make cooking in schools faster. Other advantages include: Bio gas does not produce smoke that is dangerous to human health. Smoke also hurts the eyes
• Save time that is spent while splitting firewood or burning wood for charcoal
• Serve as demonstration to communities to embrace bio gas technology

The use of bio-gas in schools could be the key to stopping use of charcoal, firewood and kerosene
