Eco Green Initiative Environment Awards

Eco Green Initiative (EGI) Environment Awards are presented to trailblazers at the forefront of efforts to mitigate impacts of climate change and global warming, protect our environment and reverse ecosystem degradation.

The purpose of the EGI Awards program is to appreciate (and also motivate) individuals, groups and partners contributions toward the restoration of a habitable planet.

The awards are bestowed to:

  • EGI E Clubs for surpassing own set targets,
  • EGI E Club members for individual role within own club,
  • EGI Affiliated / Partner community-based groups and organizations for impactful and sustainable activities toward the realization of EGI goals,
  • EGI Members and volunteers for best performance in chosen areas of mitigation, and
  • EGI development partners and sponsors for outstanding support toward the vision and mission of Eco Green Initiative.

Awards may comprise among others: honors, trophies, certificates of EGI Champion status, EGI branded paraphernalia, school related relevant learning material for EGI E Club members (eg geometry sets, writing and reading material, Multi Media learning aids, excursion, academic and benchmarking trips, among others.

The Awards are:

  • School based Environment Clubs AWARD (EGI E Clubs Group AWARD)
  • School based Environment Clubs (EGI E Clubs) Champion AWARD
  • Organized Community Groups EGI Champion AWARD
  • EGI Champion GOLD Award
  • EGI Champion SILVER Award
  • EGI Champion BROZE Award

Criteria for nomination for EGI Environment Award

Awards will be given to individuals and / or group projects that excel at:

  • Significantly contributing to the improvement of environmental quality through the protection, conservation, restoration, communication and/or stewardship of natural resources
  • Demonstrating a high achievement level
  • Creating sustainable or reproducible results
  • Culture change: Shift to behavior that supports adoption of practices that mitigate impacts of climate change and global warming, activities that protect the environment (eg gabions), participation in public awareness events, planting trees, growing trees, protecting trees)
  • Inspiration and Action: Activities that support mission and vision of EGI (Arts, Crafts, Music, Drama, Theater, Impactful Multimedia designs)
  •  Entrepreneurship: Businesses that support mitigation of impacts of climate change and global warming (eg Tree nurseries)
  • Innovation: Invention of methods and tools that facilitate effective and sustainable local mitigation of impacts of climate change and global warming (eg adoption of solar energy, bio gas, organic fertilizers, organic pesticides; novel and environment friendly waste management, strategies for creating clean and health surroundings)
  • Support: Philanthropy and sponsorship that facilitates the achievement of EGI objectives (eg time, space, logistics and material). Material may include but not limited to sponsorship / funding / procurement / supply of EGI Awards, EGI branded paraphernalia, seedlings, seedballs, items required for security of planted trees, for growing of seedlings to trees, for raising groundwater tables, for public awareness and any other such items as may be required toward the mission and vision of EGI.

Nomination Guidelines and Tips

Individuals and / or Community Group programs must have been in place for at least one year prior to submission

EGI E Clubs nominations may include proposed school projects within the previous 90 days

Self-nominations and renominations are welcome.

We encourage you to submit additional material in support of your nomination (letters of support, news articles, photographs, videos, etc.)

Please include your completed nomination form with materials, and take note of the submission deadline.

Decisions of the judges are final

The judges reserve the right NOT TO make any awards in any of the award categories

All nominations must be received by 25 August, annually
